Crib to Headboard Transformation Complete

Finally, after I started this project forever ago, I’m done with my drop-side crib to headboard transformation! Here’s what our bedroom and bed looked like before:

Nice college-style bedroom. Note the absolute lack of design elements.

Here’s what it looks like now:

Oh my god can you even believe it?! What a difference! All of a sudden it looks like a real bed in a real bedroom. I can’t wait to sleep in it tonight. Here’s a wider angle:
I’ve been waiting to use the pillows I made earlier in the year because I wanted to put them out at the same time as the new headboard, bed lifts and bedding. Here’s a few closer shots of the pillows on the bed:

Just a few other notes: the wall sconces are Alang Wall Lamps from Ikea and I’m just loving them since we put them in. The duvet cover is Ikea as well but it doesn’t seem to be available anymore. The maps hanging above the bed are where we each are from and where we met.

The bedroom redo is almost complete now – all that’s left to do is hang the picture gallery on the wall and come up with some type of window treatment/curtains/drapes. How do you think it turned out?

  1. Besides no longer having that ‘college’ ambience, now it’s sophisticated, restful, and with creative touches personal to you two — success!
